Our motto is to let kids be kids. There are no forced poses or anything that could make children feel uncomfortable. Think of the photo session as a playdate. We give different prompts to kids and let them take the lead. All of our photos are taken at their eye level. This makes the images look unique and makes the child feel comfortable and confident. A good shot can be of a cute smile or a silly face. Let’s enjoy the imagination of kids.

Since kids sit down for fun portraits, there is no age requirement. The only condition is that the child must be able to sit independently. We’ve had babies as young as six months and up.
-
If more than one child is coming into our studio, we first plan to photograph each tiny human individually. If time allows for it, we then photograph the siblings together.

Any portraits taken in our studio are with strobes or some constant light.

Having more experience with my babies, I’ve learned to let kids be kids simply by letting each child be. I give little prompts for them to think about and wait to see what kind of expression they want to share. If I start to get the camera smile, that’s ok too. It’s fun to see the transformation from camera to genuine facial expressions.

In 2011, I started focusing on portrait photography. I invested time into getting educated through different workshops focusing on portrait photos. Having nailed down my lighting techniques, the focus with children is to ensure they feel comfortable in our studio. The secret here is to allow kids to express themselves how they would like to in front of the camera. This is something I learned after becoming a mother. Beautiful portraits happen when kids feel comfortable in front of the camera. Whether a child wants to be silly with goofy faces, have a moment of pouting, or give me a genuine smile, I genuinely celebrate all the little expressions a child feels comfortable expressing. When other children see your kid’s portraits, they want the same experience.
